LINES OF EFFORT

Commercial Engagement

& Integration

Through our Commercial Engagement and Integration (CE&I) line of effort, we connect our MAJCOM partners with the nation's premier solution providers. By collaborating with startups, cutting-edge small businesses, tech incubators, accelerators, investors, and other government bodies, we've cultivated an expansive community focused on dual-use technology integration within the defense industrial base for our government clients. Our team pinpoints commercial capabilities that address existing USG client gaps. Funding these solutions primarily through SBIR grants, we ensure that the financial support does not detract from overarching DoD or USAF objectives and priorities.

The CE&I team also supports companies and technologies of interest to our clients by providing events to connect directly, such as through our technology Showcase. Commercial companies are invited to debut their technology solutions for the chance to present or demonstrate materials to our MAJCOM decision makers. All applicants receive feedback from our subject matter expert evaluators, and selected finalists pitch their innovation at a live event. Winners become part of the CE&I portfolio with access to continued advising where our team helps them to identify funding and transition pathways to enable the fielding of valuable commercial solutions.

Education

We've developed multiple immersive, high-engagement courses and content for MAJCOM partners taught in small seminars to ensure the most effective student-to-facilitator ratio. Their objective is to equip those new to a specific level of leadership with the capabilities and confidence necessary to take on their new roles – from first-time supervisors to advanced-level leaders – and further develop an emotionally intelligent, coaching-focused growth mindset throughout the Command.

As an example: the Striker Foundational Leadership Course (SFLC) is the flagship leadership development course for Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) and sets the foundational standards for all current and future advanced course variations, including the Command’s current Intermediate-level course (SILC). The SBCC faculty and staff possess the experience, education, and expertise to facilitate groundbreaking seminars that are often unlike anything students have experienced in their careers. To date, SBCC and AFGSC have certified over 50 seminars of SFLC and SILC graduates comprised over more than 400 Striker-leaders – officer, enlisted, and civilian alike.

Courses are most often delivered through a virtual learning environment, allowing students to engage their facilitators, classmates and coursework from anywhere in the world while also saving countless resources on travel expenses. This also adds to the foundational diversity of each class, as students participate from nearly any-and-all operating locations without hinderances from weather or certain operational tempo requirements. However, for any specific meeting requirements, courses have been – and can be – offered in-person and at a dedicated location per the clients request, especially in cases where discussions can reach a sensitive or classified level.

In addition to the current, vertically-integrated leadership course offerings, SBCC maintains a diverse faculty who are certified in a wide-array of leadership, coaching, and evaluative disciplines available either online or in-person, as requested. All SBCC leadership education services continue to exceed every operational milestone and evaluative standard – in value, performance, and quality. This includes a catalog of overwhelmingly positive feedback from across the entirety of course graduates to-date.

Data Engineering & Analytics

Our engineers working in DE & A specialize in pattern recognition among large volumes of data. They use machine learning algorithms and statistical methods to develop customized decision-making tools on existing government platforms. These programs improve situational awareness and decision making, streamline business processes, and increase autonomy and mobility of DoD systems.

Our custom solutions use Data Engineering, or DE to bypass outdated acquisition and sustainment processes. We utilize the Air Force’s branch wide data platforms, such as Envision, Vault, and Blade, to create immediately functional and cross-departmental accessible programs.  Our tool development process costs the customer an average 95% less than commercial software solutions and is delivered about 50-87% faster by avoiding traditional Authority to Operate wait times.

SBCC offers our DE expertise to create the right solution the first time, months faster. Products are designed and delivered in as little as three months, saving our partners roughly $2.5M - $10M on annual software and tool development contracts.  Solutions are government owned, hosted on government platforms, and accessible or adaptable to any customer within the Department of Defense.

In line with the Deputy SECDEF's "Creating Data Advantage" and SAF/CO’s “Harnessing the Power of Data", SBCC's data analysis arm strategizes to meet the intended objectives of Visible, Accessible, Understandable, Linked, Trustworthy, Interoperable, and Secure (VAULTIS) data to accelerate the enterprise data edge by following five “DoD Data Decrees” to improve performance and create decision advantage at all echelons.
