Satisfactory sample answer for pre-work question #1:
It's different for different LOEs. For People, I see myself belonging to this LOE very clearly. As a Flt/CC interacting and supporting people is what I am dealing with every single day and where I believe I can have the biggest impact. On Mission I see myself having a lot of impact at a tactical level, not on a strategic level. I can make decisions very easily about where and how the Defenders in my flight will train and complete the mission, but when it comes to making more strategic decisions I do not see where my role is currently. On the Modernizing LOE I see my role as being able to support that mission. As a Defender we will play a huge role in security while upgrading the fleet and while performing maintenance actions to sustain our current missile fleet. The Engagement LOE is another spot I can play a big role and I see that as explaining the "why" to others.
A better answer to this question might look like this:
People: My flight works very well together. Many of us spend time with one another outside of work and we often have lunches together. Of course, we don't all have the same opinions, and very often we have healthy discussions where everyone is allowed to disagree, but we still respect each other. I also personally encourage everyone to have a direct and respectful discussion with anyone he may have a disagreement with, rather than discussing disagreements with others.
Mission: I work on the front line of the Minuteman III mission. My flight is directly responsible for maintaining and verifying the enable, launch, and inhibit capability for our ICBMs. Without us doing our job the missiles won't launch or be prevented from unauthorized launch. Much of our processes are strictly regulated by higher Air Force directives, however several of our local processes that added on to existing requirements have either been significantly revised to improve efficiency, or removed entirely.
Modernize: Over the past year my team has been implementing a cryptographic upgrade to the command and communication system for our ICBMs. This upgrade increases the security of the ICBM enable code process. It allows for increased secure data transfer operations and eliminates the need physical presence at a launch facility while updating the launch codes. We aren't directly involved in the LGM-35A upgrade, but some of the processes we utilize will likely be implemented in fleet modernization.
Engage: Our unique mission set places us at the crossroads of OPS and MX at my wing. My flight is composed of 13N Missile Operators and 2M0 Space and Missile Maintainers. Each background provides unique perspectives on solving problems and in turn we aid the other in explaining capabilities and limitations to other agencies that we interact with daily. I am also a member of a local group that provides a place for community members to discuss and engage with relevant Air Force topics.
Satisfactory sample answer for pre-work question #2:
One of my main roles in contributing to the LOEs is being a vessel of communication in between my leadership and my followers. It is one of my many jobs to be able to properly communicate the will of Air Force Leadership and then implement it effectively into my flight. Another way I can contribute to the LOEs is by being innovative and coming up with new ideas that push the boundaries of the systems we use.
A better answer to this question might look like this:
Global Strike Command and the Air Force at large expects me to understand the information the command is briefing us on and to know what is going on in the real world and how we make the difference in the success of the mission. The 4 LOEs are the focus areas we Airmen need to keep in mind in order to beat our adversaries today. The command at AFGSC needs to make sure the Airmen and civilians are on the same page, so we all can have the same focus. We are all a team and need to fight together and we are expected to modernize as needed. I need to share my thoughts and inputs on the LOEs with my supervisor and leadership, because it may help our processes and contribute to the mission as a whole. We all should take the LOEs into consideration to build a stronger Air Force and always be ahead of our adversaries.
