Ed Sumangil
Ed Sumangil leverages his extensive leadership experience as the Small Business Consulting Corporation’s (SBCC) Director of Government Relations. Prior to joining SBCC, Ed served a distinguished 26-year career in the United States Air Force (USAF), retiring as a Colonel.
While on active duty, Ed served in various leadership and staff positions. As Secretary of the Air Force Senate Liaison Office, Ed spearheaded a team of seven, effectively communicating and advancing Department of the Air Force priorities to 100 Senate offices. In his role as Senior Executive Officer to the Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Ed's strategic counsel directly affected 689,000 active duty, Guard, Reserve, and civilian personnel. As commander of the 7th Bomb Wing at Dyess Air Force Base, Ed led a successful transformation, guiding a 4,300+ person organization towards 21st century warfare and delivering exceptional service for nearly 15,000 personnel.
Ed holds a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and a distinguished academic record with three Master's Degrees from Norwich University, Air Command and Staff College, and the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies. He also completed a research fellowship from Stanford University.
At SBCC, Ed draws on his leadership and government experience to help company leadership navigate federal processes and maintain awareness of legislative and defense-related developments. He supports outreach and engagement with government stakeholders to ensure they are informed about SBCC’s mission and contributions to national security.
